Learn how to easily record your screen and create podcasts using video, voiceovers, images, and PowerPoint presentations with Camtasia. Find the right equipment for producing professional-quality podcasts, choose the most appropriate file format for your audience, and explore various options for distributing your podcasts, both on campus and beyond.

I. Introduction to multimedia podcasting.
  • A. History of podcasting/vodcasting.

  • B. Equipment needed to produce a video podcast.

  • C. What makes an effective podcast.

  • D. What options are available for instructors to create and post their podcasts.

  • E. Where can students go to podcast, what equipment and support is available.

  • F. Discuss podcast formats

II. Podcast Examples

  • A. iTunes.tamu.edu - view examples of nationally recognized podcasts created by TAMU.

  • B. MediaMatrix.tamu.edu, elearning.tamu.edu, private web-site

III. Hands on experience creating a video podcast using Camtasia (PC based software)

  • A. Open Camtasia and brief overview of its capabilities.

  • B. Record the screen.

  • C. Import multimedia such as video, audio, slides, pictures, webcam and more.

  • D. Use the edit features to customize your podcast. This is the fun part as you can make your podcast as simple or add all the bells and whistles you desire.

  • E. Produce your podcast in a sharable format. Discuss advantages and uses of the different format types and how to determine which one fits your needs.
